Assignment 5 Landscapes
Assignment 5 Landscapes
Landscape photography for me is about photographing the beauty of nature no matter how big or small it appears. I believe that human interference doesn't ruin a photograph but can very easily improve a landscape. Its about capturing something beautiful that you want to share with everyone else. The only real important thing is that what you do photograph is pleasing to both you and the viewers eyes and how it makes them feel when you gaze upon it.
After going on several photography outings in the many forested
areas around state college, I began to notice a repetition in each of my
images, the strong presences of a strong and striking light source. Not only is
light necessary to create any photography, but for me it is the most
interesting part of an image. For instance, you could take two images of the
same subject, one with a strong and striking presence of light, the other will
a dull and flat presence of light, and although the images have the same
subject, they images become completely different. So, I plan to use my
infatuation with the presences of light in photographs to experiment with the endless
possibilities of light. To do this, I will obviously use the “magic hours” of
the day to enhance the power of light in my images, but also plan to experiment
with all times of day and all of the possibilities imaginable in order to
challenge my self and create a diverse group of work. My hope for these images
is for not only myself to enjoy them, but to be able to infatuate my viewer by
the power of light.

I have loved water since before I can remember. I love being
in it almost as much as I like looking at it. I love the way that the ripples
glide across the surface when something falls through. Or the way that water
slips in between the rocks headed downstream. The sound of rushing water is
ever so calming, however the peacefulness of still water is more so. I am
taking these pictures for me. Mostly because I want an excuse to hang out by
the water, but also so I have to adventure out into PA to find what I need. We
don’t have very much water in State College, so I have to go find it myself.
