  1. Hey I thought I might leave a comment on everyone's image posts to start the conversation critiques a little more so that maybe we will talk more in class... feel free to comment on my work also so if I say something that upsets you, you can take it out on my work!

Max-- I think you can really tell that you are enjoying what you are doing when you are photographing, especially in your photographs of trees. I think those are some of your most successful images. You are able to create an openness of space in photographs that have a lot going on. Even though there are so many lines and a large amount of information in the photographs, they still has this calmness and serenity. There's alot going on but at the same time there isn't. The photographs don't bother your eye. I think you are doing a decent job at creating the "vista" kind of photographs that you are looking for with scenery that you have.
On a different note, your last photograph wasn't as successful has your tree images. I can't really tell what you are looking at in the photograph. The horizon, the light and shadows, the ripples on the lake/pond? The ripples are cut off to much for them to be the subject of the photograph-- my eyes go straight to the horizon and linger there. Sorry if I said anything to upset you! I'll see you Thursday!--Morgan

  2. Hi thanx to Morgan who started this conversation and I would like to join as well, in hope of contributing by offering my opinions. That way we could all learn from others about how they view the world and how the world views our works. I would speak from my own experience and probably leaning toward technical perspective.
You could tickle me if my words upset you.

Max, no doubt your set this week is the best among us. Most of the images are very successful, only minor issues. No. 3 is my absolute favorite, the composition is ok, and the gradual change of texture from left to right is fascinating. It also delivered the width of the water and thus the openess of that space.

The last one is a little bit strange though, i guess you know that already so I'll save the rest. Keep them good photos coming!

    Peace,
    Jack
