Hey I thought I might leave a comment on everyone's image posts to start the conversation critiques a little more so that maybe we will talk more in class... feel free to comment on my work also so if I say something that upsets you, you can take it out on my work!
Bari-- There's a large presence of line in your photographs, which I think would be a really interesting thing to explore in the landscape. The use of line in your photographs as a theme is definitely more successful in some of your images than others. I think you can come up with some really interesting ideas and images by exploring line in the landscape. You can find line in macro images, wide angle images, lines of leaves, trees and pathways, streams, hills and general shapes in the landscape. Sorry if I said anything to offend you! See you Thursday!-- Morgan
Hi thanx to Morgan who started this conversation and I would like to join as well, in hope of contributing by offering my opinions. That way we could all learn from others about how they view the world and how the world views our works. I would speak from my own experience and probably leaning toward technical perspective.
This is actually an impressive set of images, apart from a lack of motion. 4th image is my favorite, I don't know how you got the close-up without scaring the bug away, maybe with a telescope lens? And the large section of red makes a beautiful background. No.5 is also good, geometric pattern are also fascinating, I would suggest to recompose it though. And the backgrounds seem messy. You could try shooting with the camera close to the ground and look up. That way you get a clear background and the trees would seem VERY tall thus creating a good guiding line for viewers.
